The Future is Hispanic, STEM is Now!!
There is a dynamic foundation in South Florida that gives STEM Scholarships to advanced Hispanic and Latino first-generation American students.
STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The foundation is known as the Brinker Education Initiative, have awarded 61 STEM Scholarships since 2016.
Why STEM?
STEM degrees lead to more lifetime employment and more lifetime income than non-STEM degrees. Everyone absolutely needs to learn some STEM to get a meaningful job.
Why target gifted Hispanic and Latino students?
Hispanic and Latino Americans are the Emerging New American Majority within 40 years, according to the Census.
"We want to prepare our students to lead technological and innovative sectors which will lead our competitive edge in the global economy," say Dr. Belinda Gonzalez Leon, the main speaker for the 2023 Brinker STEM Scholarship Awards Luncheon where students receive their scholarship check.
"Hispanics are under-represented in the critical fields of STEM and it’s critical that Hispanic parents guide their students to become STEM focused. These are the important future careers of our economy, the careers that will help Hispanic families raise their standard of living as well as boost the country’s economy." adds Gonzalez-Leon.
